Troy Deeney

Broadcaster and Former Professional Footballer

Troy Deeney is a former professional footballer, broadcaster, pundit and columnist.

Troy has previously played and captained both Watford and Birmingham City in both the Premier League and the Championship. He has made over 500 professional appearances and scored more than 160 career goals.

Troy still remains Watford FC’s all time leading Premier League goal scorer, having played there between 2010-2021.

In 2025, Troy was announced as part of the cohort of contestants for Channel 4’s hit show SAS: Who Dares Wins, where he was crowned as one of the winners on his series. He then went on to co-host BBC Three show, in partnership with TikTok & BBC Sport, Last Pundit Standing. The show amassed over 16 million views across platforms and nominated for a Broadcast Sport Award.

For the 2024/2025 football season, Troy took on a new role as regular host of the 10am-1pm show each Friday on Talksport as well as commentating on their 3pm games each Saturday. As well as his commitment on Talksport, Troy is now fast becoming a regular pundit across Sky Sports EFL fixtures and BBC’s Match of the Day. At the end of 2024, Troy made the trip across the pond and featured regularly across CBS Golazo’s football programmes.

Troy has worked across an array of podcasts, including: Three up Front, in partnership with William Hill and in the past Troy has hosted BBC Sound’s ‘Football Firsts’ for two series and award winning BBC’s ‘Confessions of a Match Fixer’ where Troy interviewed match fixer, Moses Swaibu. Troy began his podcast career with the launch of his very own podcast –   Deeney Talks, which is based around honest conversations with well-known personalities with guests including Elton John, Anthony Joshua and Ian Wright to name a few.

In 2022, Troy presented Channel 4 Documentary, Troy Deeney: Where’s My History? He set out to campaign to make Black, Asian and minority ethnic histories and experiences being taught on the curriculum in schools across the UK.

In November 2021, Troy released his memoir titled “Redemption”. In which he talks his readers through his life, remarkable story of resilience and path to reaching the title of Watford’s 3rd highest goal scorer of all time.
