Reggie Yates is an award-winning TV Broadcaster, Director and Writer.
Reggie’s career spans over two decades, from beginning as a child actor to hosting Top of the Pops, BBC Radio 1, a host of prime-time Saturday night TV shows, and most notably, his hard-hitting, critically acclaimed documentaries.
His BBC3 Extreme series – Extreme Russia, Extreme South Africa, and Extreme UK – have been viewed by millions and are now streaming on Netflix and Apple TV. His documentaries, which explore global social issues through a deeply personal lens, have earned him multiple awards including Best Presenter at the Royal Television Society Awards and Best Factual Programme at the Edinburgh TV Festival.
Alongside his on-screen work, Reggie is also a talented writer and director. His debut feature film, PIRATES – a BBC Films and BFI-backed coming-of-age comedy set in 1990s London – was released theatrically to critical acclaim. He has also written and directed short films including Patriarch, Shelter, and Date Night (starring Daniel Kaluuya) which was met with acclaim, the latter winning Best UK Short at the London Independent Film Festival. In 2020, he wrote and produced the BBC TV movie Make Me Famous, examining the impact of fame and mental health in the reality TV space.
Reggie’s influence extends beyond the screen. He is passionate about interior design, and has recently partnered with Heal’s Furniture. Reggie’s photography has been exhibited at the Tate Modern and he released his debut book Unseen with Penguin Random House. He was also named on the 2020 Powerlist as one of Britain’s most influential black personalities.
